Suffering from poor sleep? Here is how to sleep as if you have no worries

Every day we hear about the rise in stress levels in human lives. And we don’t need to look somewhere else to realize this. Just ask yourself if you are stressed or not. Stress starts as a psychological phenomenon and ends up manifesting into sickness and deadly diseases like cancer, heart attacks, and strokes. What to do? Just try to sleep well and allow yourself some good health. But this is not as easy as it seems. Many people struggle to get the rest they need. Thus, here are a few tips that can help you attain quality sleep and be more functional in your life:

  • Stick to a sleep schedule: Our bodies have a circadian rhythm that releases hormones (sleep hormones and wake-up hormones) when required. But when this rhythm gets disrupted, the hormones fail to release. The result? Lack of quality sleep. One way to attain this rhythm back is by going to bed and waking up at the same time every day, even on weekends. This will help regulate your body’s sleep-wake cycle and bring back the healthy release of hormones.
  • Create a sleep-conducive environment: Do you really not touch your phone before going to sleep? Modern life is surrounded by electronic devices. These devices have harmful waves and light that messes up with our brain. What to do? Keep your bedroom quiet, cool, and dark. You might also want to invest in a comfortable mattress, pillows, earplugs, white noise machines, etc. This will help you block out any distractions. Buy these from free Shopify alternatives that sell health and beauty products like earplugs.
  • Reduce screen time before bedtime: The devices that we use are although helpful, they harm us at night. The blue light emitted by screens can interfere with your body’s production of melatonin, a hormone that regulates sleep. Simply avoid using these electronic devices like phones, tablets, computers, television, etc. for at least an hour before bedtime.
  • Bring relaxation techniques: Going to bed with an anxious mind will not help you sleep well. You’ll just be lying with your eyes closed. Try taking a warm bath, reading a book, or doing meditation to throw away all the day’s anxiety away.
  • Reduce caffeine and alcohol intake: Have you not felt the ultimate wake-up state that you get after drinking a good cup of coffee? It is because the caffeine helps our brain become extra active. Both of these substances can interfere with sleep. To have a good sleep, try to avoid consuming them after lunchtime.
  • Get regular exercise: Physical activities must be a regular part of your life. This is vital not only for sleep but your overall health. Regular physical activity regulates the sleep-wake cycle and improves the quality of your sleep. However, be sure to finish exercising a few hours before bedtime so that you don’t disrupt your sleep.

These are all the simple things that you can bring into your life and gift yourself some quality sleep. Ultimately, it will boost your mood and make you more functional in your life.
